Have a lifetime sellers offer on today £49 instead of £75

Might be worth a look seeing as Ebay are taking the water with fee's at the moment

Hardly an 'offer', it's been that price for ages. Back as far as last year I think.

My total sales last year on ebid came to £99.

Not great on a 7 figure + t/o.

By all means get your kit on there, but don't hold your breath.

Well that answered my question about is it worth the effort, I have no where near that turnover but have recently found amazon a lot better at generating sales and much less hassle than ebay. I also find their fee structure much easier to manage the sums with, ebay has one hell of a monopoly on being a marketplace and auction.

I feel sorry for eBid. They seem to be doing everything right but there's so little take-up it can't be viable. Who will slay the eBay monster and how?

I think ebay are so big that any promising competitor would simply be bought up and included or squashed.

Presumaby they've got round European Monopolies legislation because there are alternatives to use (even if they're no good)

I'm surprised Google aren't doing more to make their shopping portal a more integrated solution. they expanded their existing Google Base product listings they would be a serious competitor. Right now they're missing a few features like categorisation, pricing granularity, and seller provenance. Add the ability to just upload product details to Google without a separate website (i.e. the Google interface it itself an ebay-like shop) and it might just snowball. Obviously they already have Google Checkout for payments.
