Anyone on here drive a 993 GT2?
Discussion
I have been fortunate enough to have had a good few passenger rides at goodwood and castle combe.Sadly haven't driven the car.
The impression I had was of the brakes and handling..They were 430bhp as standard and I have definitely been in 993TT that have felt faster in a straight line.
Great car but for the premium you may as well tune a 993 RS, now the GT2 is more of a collectors piece.

Not looking at a right hooker the only one I know of is white but there are 3 left hookers for sale at the moment that look perfict after nearly 10 years which I would expect given the investment .
I was getting a GT3 RS but have gone of the Idea after my order was canceled by the OPC. now having looked at the car in the flesh they may have done me a favor great motor just not for me . The 993 GT2 looks the muts but I want to know what they are like to live with

This is an interesting thread.
Although I cannot afford to take part right now, it does seem that at the more extreme end of Porsche ownership, there is a surprising shortage of choice.
If one does'nt fancy a GT3RS, and the GT2 996 lacks a certain something, that just leaves the 993 RS and 993 GT2. And in the case of the GT2 - that a rare beast indeed.
Whats the solution? Perhaps a 993 RS 3.8 re-engineered at Ninemeister? 400hp normally aspirated, maybe more..
Or G-force do an interesting 500hp 996 GT2.
Good luck in your quest for the perfect Porsche

Hopefully one of the memebers Burzel will be along soon,,,he certainly owns a 400bhp 9M prepared 993 RS, I beleive he also has a 993 GT2. If anyone can give you an impression, surely he is the man.
Personally I would find out if Murray is still considering his tuned 993RS, because in terms of outlay it represents terrific value compared to a GT2.

Not sure if it is still around, but there is one for around £65k at

From what I recall, I'm pretty sure TommyT checked it out and said it was built based on a 993RS and didn't have matching numbers, but was a nice car for the track. I just checked his site and he still appears to have a very nice mint GT2, although for a few pounds more...!
Good luck with your search

Hi
I was out in my gt this saturday, at the historic motorsports show at stonleigh.Good day out.
Any way, i thought my rs was possibly quicker than the gt,its not!
The quickest way to loose your licence though.
I had forgotten the feeling of changing up and never running out of power only the road.(long winter)
They are great cars to live with,a little more alive on the road than the rs as regards to handling, just make sure the steering lock is coming off before you flatten the pedal!
And of course a sound investment.
I do have a lot of history on the gt cars,so if you ever find one, check it with me.There is a rhd for sale,in black. X channel island car,has been reshelled and probably£25k overpriced.
There are as few as 5 rhd honest cars now in the uk,out of the 10 cars imported to the uk,8 where sold through the uk dealers, and two never got registered in the uk.They where exported to new zealand by the gilltrap family, porsche importers of new zealand and car dealers in london. They ordered a silver one and a red one. They then took there pick for colour preferance and sold the silver car to the first owner of my car.Steve Kevlin demo my car to the previous owner around Reading, then straight in a container to NZ!
There where only 13 RHD cars built for world wide sales of the 1995 production run.And around 50 lhd cars.
I do know of a couple of gt cars for sale in South Africa,a good place to buy with exchange rates etc.
There is also a road version and ev2 version for sale on www.qv500.com www.mobile.de also have a few on at the moment, but be carefull some are not what they seem. The best car for investment or lack of deprecation at the moment is a silver 97/98 car that has had around for a while, because its expensive. Its a clubsport version, very low miles and i believe still belongs to richard Green.
You can always come over to my place for a ride any time,as long as its dry and no salt!
Also do not believe what all the journalists say about these cars, they are simply awesome and not beasts.I think most journalists scared themselves, after driving some slow cars like a f40 or 50(Joke)

I've had two - one ('95 model) which i did nearly 50,000 miles in - all over europe to and around most race circuits, and another 97 car which wasnt as good (but its all relative) which i stupidly sold for a premium shortly after buying it. Fantastic fun, nowhere near as difficult to drive as you'd imagine even in the wet, relatively cheap to run (brake discs excepted). Problems/drawbacks? Only that i regret selling them and now cant find a decent one to replace them at sensible money. The mothership of all porsches!

Hello. I have seen a silver 993 GT2 parked up in Reading, was it yours...
Also saw one another silver one at the Motorsport weekend at Reading a few weeks ago, with nurburgring and A1 ring stickers on it. Good chance it was the same one.

V.Rare, the Ultimate Porsche in my opinion, I think there is a black one for sale, proper uk oneofthe8 RHD for £125k, but I'd have one in a flash. (See Top Marques)
If you are considering a GT2 993, though, on equal rarity scale, consider a 964 Turbo S (about half the price, about £65-70k and guess what, 8 RHD as well. Had a trip round the Ring in one after a few tweaks at manthey, just awesome) or the fabled 993 RSR, 7 RHD built, now only 6 left as I think one was nicked and never seen again. The GT3 RS equivalent to todays Turbo S I suppose, normally aspiriated, RWD only etc. About £85k last time I saw one up for sale.
Does Karl who won the 11m on the lottery still have his one? Remember seeing an interview sitting on the bonnet of an Aventura Green one?
Never owned or been in one, but always in my top 3 cars I've got to have.
