...will it be a good idea or would I be hit with quite a few faults over the next 3/4 years?

I have stumbled upon a 2.2 tdci in Zetec trim so none of the fancyness from a Titanium or handling polish of an ST but I can live with it have Climate and Cruise, and it will make a change from harder riding cars I have had. Its a Jan 07 car and mileage is 4100 and I have rang to confirm this is correct, don't know the history but will be off to have a look on Monday.

I don't care about the handling etc but more that it isn't something that will have lots of costly faults over 15-20k a year for at least 3 years.

4100 ... thats low ... as for faults, I've put 52,000 miles on my ST TDCI( advertised in classifieds ) and not had any issues what so ever.
Had the injectors looked at by a specialist when there were rumours of injector faults but they didnt show any issues.
Only issue I have found is they handle too well so will easily scrub the outer edges of teh tyres if you corner too hard.
After a weekend in Snowdon a few weeks ago I now have rounded the outer endge off both front tyres smile
