Shortened title - It should read "What's the etiquette if you see someone you know or are sure is a PHer"?

I saw someone (and their car) today that was, is or probably is a PHer (Navy A6 estate 03 plate ending in DDV or DVV with a PH sticker on the back at a hair salon called DN20) - Now, I didn't want to go over and say "Hi, I'm JTW from Pistonheads" in case it was, y'know, gay or weird.

So, what should I have done - secret handshake or just muttered the words "Ambiwlans, MX5, 335D (Mapped), OXO"?

I'm sure there was a thread along these lines, but I can't find it

Was delivering leaflets around town for work last summer, on one drive I bump I half-recognised the MINI Cooper S from here as it pulled up, said hi and asked if he was on PH as I was sure I'd seen the car before, he was.

In my experience, appropriate etiquette is you buy the first round.

the oxo tower bang the back doors in crowd will be along shortly to correct this or add the "mapped" disclaimer or ask for a custard test

A. Break cover and run for it - hope they don't release the hounds

or

B. Throw the PH gang sign: violently cross arms across chest and grin like a maniac..

... This one is best kept for when you are on-foot, not whilst behind the wheel.

I was in a traffic jam on the M25 and saw a PHer in a TVR, I wound down the window and we proceeded to have a chat until the traffic began moving again.

I thought you just roll up silk shirt sleeve and show the PH tattoo on your forearm.

How the hell do you talk to a driver of a TVR from another car? I imagine the engine was off? hehe

That's a TVR thing though isn't it biggrin

I have not been approached by anyone (who doesn't already know me) in almost 5 years of working here as a result of my PH car sticker, T shirt etc.

I met "V8S" down in Devon whilst I was sitting outside a pub - PH Sticker + TVR = Surefire PH'er.

Went and sheepishly said hello, nice chap who the proceeded to make as much noise as he could up the road in the Tiv. hehe

Awesome.

I repeat the last 5 things spoken, and then say something new. Not being able to use smileys in real life, conversations usually include me winking, lolling, downing a pint of guiness, or driving a tank.
