going to a good friends sisters wedding tomorrow. On the invite they've asked for money to help towards the honeymoon.

I've known her a good few years but not seen her for at least 4 years since she moved away.

Basically, what's a good amount to give so as not to offend? I really don't fancy digging too deep for someone I haven't seen for so long and have fallen out of touch with.

Cheque for £250 but get someone else to sign it with a different name.

Eat as much as you can at the wedding.

Whatever you feel comfortable with. Or think of something more appropriate and personal to the couple instead - you don't have to follow their honeymoon request...

Fiver and a note to the cheeky bh to live within her means, maybe suggesting a weekend in skegness and stop begging people to pay for her holiday?

I might be behind the times though.

I'd say £50 is fair enough.

Some friends got married recently and asked for cash. We gave £50, and talking to other people at the wedding this seemed a fairly standard amount.

It also depends on what you can afford. Weddings are expensive for the guests too.

I've always done what I think it would cost me to have a good meal and a night out. If you're going to the day and night that's what you're getting.

Good etiquette for someone you don't care about and are not interested in is not to go, surely?

A £20 note. But make sure you rub it around your balls and undercarriage first, then you can feel smug.

No more than £25. But if you only give a tenner, it's not like you are going to be seeing her in the following weeks!

Personally if I was getting a gift for someone I knew in this well (i.e. not that well!). I'd spend about £15 so would prob give the same in cash.
