Has anyone any experience of the BMW Universal DVD system.
I have been looking around and any reviews appreciated.
Looked at some ebay china import stuff but not sure it will a. last and b. be safe in the event of an impact.
I am looking to put it in the back of an X5 (E53). I have the standard sat nav/TV setup in the front.

I have the tablet kit in the link above: it's fitted & tested, but not yet used in anger (no long trips, which is what I wanted it for). I specifically didn't want a built in system, so I can move it car to car: the headrest brackets are Ikea simple to fit, no more than a couple of minutes: the players slide home solidly, the connections are all one way fit. I have the infra-red headphones, they work well, no set up issues etc - sound is fine on speakers, not Hifi but good enough: my ambition is for the kids watch & listen to what they want, whilst I'm listening to something else. One screen is the main, the other is just a feed off it, they're not independant of each other,as such. They also play beyond the car, though,, subject to a suitable power supply, & take a variety of different inputs & cards. Once packed away, there's just the mounting plinths left, the rest stays in the house. If you're really nervous, you could quickly remove that too. Because of the plinth arrangement, the screen is closer than a traditional headrest fit, but I doubt that'll be an issue in an X5. I carry adults in the back of mine, & apart from wondering what they are, they don't present a problem.
The Cotswold deal looks pretty good, that's the least I've seen it for: the headphones are extra, but the system will accept a variety, so may work with what you already have. Worth a search on eBay, though, I detect a trend for dealers to clear stock by "gifting" them to new car buyers, who don't want them, so move them on - which is how I acquired mine. They are subject to fitting certain types of car, due to the headrests in some, I imagine. I believe the latest threes are one type they aren't recommended for.

I have it in my company demo and it works a treat for the kids. We sell it for £260 as a kit
you fit yourself - as stated in minutes. I recommend you order the wireless head phones though
as the speakers can drive the front passenger and driver mad.
Screens tilt and the screens slide off so you can keep them in the house when not in use.
Great kit and a bargain...suggest you buy before they put the prices up.

My daughter loves ours. Bought it from AD with enough discount for being a BMWCC member to cover the memebership cost.
