After 8 Years, terrorists, nation states, rogue states and even corrupt politicians and vigilantes have tried to kill him...

Now fox finally has with the click of an email.

Bye Jack!

Alas it had suffered in credibility this season, but there is no doubting it really was a paradigm shift.

"We've done eight years we're very proud of, and we're very excited about going into the film world with this," said Kiefer Sutherland in an interview with The Times.

Down but not out...

It's had its day. Guess from reading that article they'll be making a '24' movie, which hopefully should be decent. Season 8 has been rubbish so far, season 7 was average at best... so it's probably a good call by them to cancel it.

I certainly won't be missing it. After the 4th series, none of them could hold my interest through the series, so never watch more than a few episodes.

That said, it certainly seems to have a fan club.

It's really gone off the boil recently, I wouldn't mind seeing Jack Bauer in a couple of films though.

I thought the first few series were very good but - like so many programmes - they took it too far. There's only so much suspense you can generate by charachters mobile phones not being able to get a signal, or a terrorist agent working for CTU (WTF do they recruit from anyway, Helmand Province??). But that wasn't the worst bit:

*SPOILER (for some people anyway)*

They really pissed me off when they shot President Palmer grumpy

Hopefully a proper one not a "The following takes place between 4pm and 6pm", I'd forget about 24 completely and do a couple of films in a similar style to the Bourne films.

-tangent-
If you liked the actor that portrayed David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert), try to find a series called "The Unit". This series (IMHO) is as good or better than 24 and Haysbert portrays the leader (Jonas Blane) of a Delta Force team (actually they don't refer to themselves as 1st SFOD-D, just "the unit") Also features Robert Patrick as Col. Tom Ryan the Unit's CinC.
-end tangent-

It's definitely had its day.

I'm still waiting for the current season to get going and it's over half way through.

about time really....all the interest in the other characters has gone. Remember Jack killing Chappel? Imagine this year...he could mow down the lot and i wouldnt care.

Real time action thrillers can work, High Noon is a classic Western and the Depp film Nick of Time is very good.
Now I have checked this list I also recall liking Phone Booth.
