Am I wasting my time?

In the past, most cars I've had used to have a fan run on switch. Sometimes as you'd walk away from parking up, the fan would kick in and all was well. The Nob doesn't have this, well my doesn't, and I find myself sat in the car waiting for the fan to switch off before I lock up and walk away.
Am I wasting my time? I understand why I should wait a few minutes for turbos to stop if I've been gunning it home, but what about the fan? Can the heat in the engine rise and cause damage if power to the fan is cut? Curious.

Your car should be maintaining the water temps, I don't think that if the temps get to the point of the fan coming on and you turn off the engine it would matter.

When I park up, I always wait for the fans to start up and stop again before switching off. Just my way of giving the turbos a bit of time 'off load' before turning off.

I agree - I`ve never quite understood the logic regarding why certain cars have coolings fans wired in this way. Maybe its because they have plastic radiator parts holding the matrix in place and the heat soak from the engine can increase the pressure in the coolant and cause `creep` of the plastic parts which could lead to a leak. Can`t see this is any sort of issue in a Noble as all the fan would do would be to cool the aluminium matrix - without the engine running there will be no significant water flow to cool anything. I`ve always thought systems that leave the fan running running until the temperature sensor turns it off are just more problems waiting to happen....

You'll find all the cars that run the fans after engine switch off have the rad in the engine bay. It's not to cool the water, it's to keep air moving through the engine bay.
