For students it's events as far as I can see. Students love going to events, but few are prepared to organise them.

sell stuff on ebay. If you can find a company willing to dropship for you (we possibly could, but not sure how competitive our prices would be once you put a mark up on top).

I did this when i was at uni a few years ago and some months would have 30k+ going through my account!

This kind of thread keeps popping up on PH. Best off looking back through them...

Hi there,

When I was at University circa 1992, me and 2 friends decided to 'do something' to not be in the 'typical student lifestyle of no money, drinking 2 quid bottles of cider and looking all grungy!'

We started selling mobile phones.. to the foreign students! wink (cough cough hint hint!)

Made an absolute killing - always brings a smile to my face when the other students in our respective classes etc would openly have their snide comments whenever we'd be in the pub alongside them!

I think i've given you a good 'tip' as to who to market to there, now go find something worthwhile to sell wink

Just to satisfy the ones who will be thinking it.. we basically were 'sub dealers' for one of the early 'mobile phone shops' that sprung up in the early 90's. We'd get access to the deals at that 'level' of sub dealer - if we'd sold X amount more it'd have been even more discounts and subsidy levels etc, but we just stayed on the first rung as it were!

Cheers! Dennis! West London & Slough UK!

Thanks for the replies so far.. definitely got the brain ticking. I did search for ''student business idea'' but got nothing shadowninja.. please post links if threads already exist.
Not specifically for students but there have been a few asking about ways of earning extra cash. Look through the business section. smile

Edit: and finance section.

You're not studying science or engineering then - no time to run a business on the side!

On the events idea, maybe you can look into a promotions side of things. Lots of businesses (takeways!), events and nights want to promote to students. Offer something great for your campus, maybe chalk stenciling on the pavements, flyer delivery and promotions people who will work for tickets.

I've just started on ebay selling cheap watches. The way sales are going, I think it will be a long time before I make £500pm from sales. Im using it to teach myself some basic business skills and learn a bit about e-marketing. There's more than money to be earnt from starting a hobby business!!
