Isn't the World a small place?
Discussion
I've spent the last two weeks on an island in the Indian Ocean. Rather remote, one hotel on the island.
In the large guest population of French, Germans and Russians, there were a couple of other British couples.
Upon speaking to them I discover one of the guys spent a few years (in the early 2000s) living in my local city
Another couple live in Suffolk, a mere 30 minutes from my house, and what's more is a motor trader who uses PistonHeads! Makes the World just a little bit smaller!
Anyone else had similarly perculiar encounters when on holiday?

My parents went to St. Lucia a few years ago, staying in the same hotel as them was another couple with the same surname as them and the husband also had the same forename as my dad. They also lived about 2 miles from my parents house !
When my wife was expecting our 2nd child, she once got the wrong blood test results from someone with exactly the same name as her. They live about 2 miles from us and their daughter now goes to the same school as my daughter, in fact they are now best friends and pretend to be cousins.

I bumped into a school friend in Tenerife! We didn't even realise we were going to the same place! Even more bizarre the same evening my headteacher came into the restaurant we were eating in! Not the best person to see when you're 16 and off school!
so, what was the head teacher doing there if you were "off school"?sneijder said:
I live in Oslo now, not spoken to my Dutch grandparents for 16 years. I had pangs of guilt as I sent photos of their 4 month old great granddaughter. They wrote a letter back as they returned from a city break in, you guessed it, Oslo. DOH !
They weren't flying BA then?
When I was at Uni, I worked at a summer camp in New Hampshire as a swimming instructor. There were quite a few international staff from Australia, New Zealand, the UK and one from South Africa. (Not many seemed to come over from SA, maybe due to the exchange rates and cost of flights.)
The lad from SA was looking at the staff photo from the previous year on a rainy afternoon supervising the library. On of the staff from the previous year went to school with him.
Considering how few saffers did the exchange, and the large number of summer camps, I always thought that was pretty amazing.

I meant more that having finally got a week off school, bumping into your headmaster when you're 3000 miles from home is a bit unfortunate
