Does anyone know of any opportunities for driving your own rally car in gravel/dirt road or forest situations? i.e. similar to a regular trackday, it's non-competitive, but you're in your own car so can push it as hard as you fancy.

East of England/Kent areas.

You'll be lucky!

Anything on gravel that isn't a mainstream stage rally is a rarity in the UK. Your options really are:
- hang around the local car clubs (especially those which are active in rallying) in the chance that one organises a gravel track / test day
- pay to go to a rally test venue; there are several which will offer 1/2 day or day packages but it won't be cheap and they're unlikely to show you any interest if you don't turn up in a prepped stage car (or at least a stage recce car).
- look outside the UK; maybe France or Belgium
- go to an oval circuit where they normally offer turn up and drive testing; not sure if all oval circuits are tarmac though; and you'll have to pick your way through the debris from the previous week's banger race...

If you do manage to find anything then please post it on here, as I'll be joining you. smile

Anyone else got any ideas - please post!

Why do you think such a facility is so rare then?

Because of the propensity for amateurs to wrap their car round a tree and kill themselves?

Rallys are usually held on public roads...just make sure they aren't busy. 3am is quite good for this.

It may actually be better to get involved in proper rallies instead. Your local motor club will probably organise them (maximum of 12 cars as this avoids the permit issues) and they seem to be quite a laugh.

i would suspect that most rally schools will allow you to hire their venue to drive your rally car.
