Renting a van and going abroad with it

is this doable? I'm helping my mum and dad move their stuff here, they're moving from Switzerland back to the UK (god help them).
Asked this in general gassing but someone pointed out I'd be better off asking here!

We did for Le Mans in 2008. Don't know the details because it wasn't my responsibility though!

It was from "Rentabanger" or something like that, so it was a pretty beat up knackered old thing. Did the job though.

Its totally doable probably best to use one of the larger firma though, and expect to pay a higher rental premium and extra cover for EU breakdown cover, other than that piece of cake.

Make sure you get the best mileage deal as some are quite tight, ie daily allowance as opposed to unlimited.

Father-in-law has rented vans to take to Europe several times. He uses a local firm. Cost him a fortune last time as he wiped out the gate post when leaving the rental company yard.

You can ask so long as you stop of at Le Mans first, no problem.

Most rental companies will accommodate taking vans outside the UK, they will charge you more for insurance and breakdown though..
