Does anybody know where all the old CRT monitors go when people replace them with TFT's? I'm getting fed up trying to use CAD type programs on a 15inch monitor (hey, it was free alright?!) and could do with something a bit bigger despite being financially challenged.

Ive got a matching pair of AOC 17" and a Dual Graphics card for sale if you wanna make me an offer.

Or you could try some local big offices write and ask them nicely, or try ebay. My old place binned loads of 17" monitors in2000 and replaced them with 21" sonys. It was ok cause i had a Quad monitor workstation on my desk. Didnt have no workspace left though. And my boss could see everything i done.

Ebay. I'm currently PHing through an old Apple Mac 21" that i got for £20. Regularly coming up for around taht sum. Delivery is a pain as they're hugely heavy and need 2 people to move them any great distance.

New ones are excellant value at the moment, we've bought about 10 19" Iiyama CRT monitors from Scan this week for £96 (ex vat) each.

£96 for a 19" monitor!

Oops, thought you were trying to get rid of a CRT, not buy one!

We'll be looking to get rid of about 600 at some point in the near future. The minimum spec is a 17" Dell but there are a few almost new Compaqs and some 21" Dells knocking about - I've no idea at the moment how we're going to dispose of them, but they're likely to either go to another of my company's sites, or to Recycle IT who sends them to schools in places like Russia and Africa.

Cheers people. Yeah I thought there should be plenty about but its actually getting hold of one. Its true that the new ones are dead cheap, though still not as cheap as a free one! I'll keep me eyes peeled on ebay and I think I might give someone at uni a shout since everytime I blink they have replaced some more screens with LCD's!

Where you based ? I've a range of 21 inches. Cost me £25, usually punt on for £80 but to PH £50. Postage is a bummer. Are you near the M6 ? (Any bit)

Not really, Cardiff in fact. How deep would a 21 inch monitor be anyway?

How about you collect from Magor (services at the Bridge on M4 where the Scamera sits). I'll be there in a fortnight ?

Sits approx 23 inches cubed.

Here's something that people do with their old CRT monitors.

I bought a brand new 19" CRT for just over 100 notes.

Not the best tube in the world, granted, but as it's used at most a couple of hours at a time it's fine.

(Work machine has a 21" Sony Trinitron running 1600x1200, and it's very nice indeed)
