GM LS2 V8 in MG BGT, is it possible?
Discussion
Hi All,
As per the title really. Is it possible to drop an LS2 into an MGB GT and if so with what (manual) gearbox? Anyone done it before?
I believe the rubber bumper chassis has more room in the engine bay than the chrome bumper chassis. Is this true and will it make a difference if fitting an LS2?

Don't know about the LS2 engine specifically. As per the engine bay, it's not that the engine bay in a rubber bumper B is bigger more that a) the cross member is lower and b) the mounts are there for a Rover V8. I know of someone with a Lexus V8 in his B and that's not a small engine. As per the title really. Is it possible to drop an LS2 into an MGB GT and if so with what (manual) gearbox? Not an LS2 conversion but this shows an LS1 into a B. So pretty close.

I've also seen a roadster version somewhere, I'll see if I can find it again.

Short answer is you can fit anything anywhere given time money and know how. A friend is planning replacing his 4.5V8 Rover based engine in his Roadster with an LS engine but his front end is somewhat different being from a March F3 car and using a Borg Warner T5 box and Jag IRS back end. He says its a straight forward job but his shell has been prety well modified over the years to accomodate different motors.
