I am currently scheming on putting a 2bular on my elise as it currently sounds like it is on mute and needs a bit of burble. I have heard that you can DIY the back-box changes (there are a bunch of how-to's on here). As you need to take the rear diffuser off anyway I may just get it made black. I think Lotus can get these Anodised for you, fitted, for around £350. Does anybody know of a company around us that could do it so I can call up and ask how much etc? Also, if somebody could tell me the difference between Anodising and Powder Coating, that would be great

Thanks

I have used these in the past and are quite good.. dont know how much it will cost but if you can time it to be as part of a big run you should be able to get it cheaper!

edited to add I think you will be looking at Apticoat 300 or Apticoat 350.. In any choice of colour!

thanks stevie - I googled around as well and found a place not far from Guildford, called up and they said £35... now I feel like I am missing something. I'll give the above bunch a call and see what they say

acorn plating in sandhurst did loads of anodising stuff for me. anodising is whee the colour is imprgnated into the metal, powder coating is where the paint is baked onto the metal

Thanks OilyRagMan - So I assume that if I am making the rear diffuser of my Elise black, and don't want it to get cooked, stone chipped and flake off, then Anodising is the way forward?

£35 sounded very cheap - I will give your bunch a call as well

Are you going to leave the plastic edge trim off then?

yeah I don't know to be honest, I haven't seen one on mine, it looked all aluminium (but thanks for pointing out so that I can check)

The trim goes around the edge, just to finish it off although I have seen 'blacked' diffusers with the trim just left off which looked fine tbh. Might be a bit of a PITA to find black trim like that.
