Very Impressed Greg.

Some Lewis Hamilton late breaking in there on the over takes. loved it.

Did I hear you shout "Come On" once clear of the traffic smile

I'm no expert but the corner (think its Grahame hill Bend) after druids looked like you were turning in early, which would normally put you out onto the rumble strips but mainly you kept it inside. scratchchin

What happened after the Spin and what position were you at that time.

Again great vid. Keep them coming. I want to come along to see a few later in the year.

errr .. wow ...

Stupid question, but I assume all the cars are identical? Or do you actually have a faster car?

Or are you just a lot better than everyone else?

I want to learn to drive like that - where can I learn?

Nice one, matey thumbup
A 55 sec lap time ain't bad for a toy, either hehe, although you'll have to last a little longer than 8 mins on track for the BritCar!

Hmmm apex speed at paddock about 70 so could get that lap time down even more.

Thanks chaps, I thought some of you would enjoy that. The video vbox is superb!! Its linked into a DL1 style logger too so you can really analyse your laps (not that I have done so yet!)

This year, the Elise Trophy is only running the Production class cars. They dropped modified due to lots of cheating and moaning etc.

All cars have to be pretty much standard and are allowed a max of 151 bhp at the hubs and a min of 825 kgs including driver.

My car is running 143 bhp and 123 talks (thanks to Matt Faulks and his wonderful new ECU from Tour-de-force power engineering Ltd)

I think I'm just starting to find all the tuition and previous racing experience falling into place, its the start of my 2nd full season and I did about 6 practice races and a full season in Club 100 karting prior to that. Oh and I crashed Nobles on trackdays prior to that.

It was the B Final. I had scraped into the A final by finishing 12 in the 1st race (top 12 from each 1st race go into A final) but I had had engine issues all day and the organiser felt a bit sorry for me so I was allowed to run in the B final too. About 30% new drivers, yes. Great fun to run through the pack.

I can remember other drivers doing it to me when I started and I really had no idea how they were able to drive so much faster than me, I was convinced that their cars were just better. Now I know that a good driver could still win in the slowest car in our series!

Its more about tuition and a good quali time than the car!! smile

Roll on Silverstone in April, and then the BritCar 24 Hour in October! biggrin

Oh, and to answer the other question, for some reason (dispite having clutch in and throttle on when spinning) the car stalled and the battery cut out engaged and I couldn't restart the car for about 30 seconds, by which time I was at the back again (24th).

Finished 17th frown

Felt like crying when I span!! Just took too much kerb which you CANNOT do on that corner in a lightweight RWD car!! I know that now smile

Greg...you get better every time I see you biggrin Faster through Paddock Hill though please...you are slow in and don't use all the road on the exit (you can use the green stuff remember)

As for the spin, Worty is an expert....you Nob laugh

Dear Greg,
Brilliant drive. 55 secs puts certain people in their places! Going wider at Clearways seems to benefit your style but that poor engine!

Just had a call from my mechanics to say that they've opened the engine and have no idea why it didn't explode already! Apparently in a right mess. It was "breathing" in over half a litre of oil per 20 minute session!!

Still 93,000 miles on a stock K-series ain't bad at all. smile

Jenx, you're not allowed to go onto the green stuff in the dip. In fact if you do it more than 3 times in a race, you get a DNF and black flag!! I find it best to keep about a foot of track free for the times when the back steps out, then you still have room to correct without beaching it smile

impressive.

I need to get down and book some lessons to see if I like driving on a track and if I can actually do it.

Hopefully I will catch the bug and be interested in taking it further.

I take it that it is an expensive and time consuming hobby?

Can you point me in the direction of where I should look to get further information on starting doing this type of racing from the bottom?

Gadge, I run performance friction discs and pads up front and elise parts ali belled discs with PF pads at the back. Yes, the squeal like a raped pig!!

Hoyin, I'd suggest the best place to start if you've never been on track, is a couple of novice trackdays where you can go out at a slow and steady pace with an instructor beside you. Maybe even book onto a "red letter" type day at Brands or Silverstone where you drive a BMW or similar with instruction for a few sessions and then go out in a single seater. See how you like it and then start doing a few more trackdays and build up your skill level.

I have witnessed one or two drivers go racing with little track time, and they always tend to embarrass themselves! Its a bit like attempting to run in a Red Bull Air Race having flown a Cessna once! hehe

Good luck!!

I have done two Brands Novice days now and they are a great way to learn and safe. I have to say though, you get instruction and they teach you the quickest line and not the racing line but I suppose you could ask.
