ok,I was desperate and just had the battery changed 'cos it wouldn't hold a charge.Went to quick fit rather than a Tvr dealer because they were the closest garage to me.I just want some reassurance that they know what they're doing so has anyone here used them in the past?Just a note...they were extremely helpful...

Not what you're expecting, but I had tyres, brakes, puncture repairs all at my local Kwik Fit on my previous Chim on several different occaions...imo I received top notch service at a rock bottom price each time.

I found that the 18 year olds at Kwik Fit enjoyed being able to work on something a bit different / special for once.

Watched them VERY closely though.

As a rule I don't use quick fit. Peninsula TVR are cheaper! As are my local independent tyre fitter (John Smith Tyres Callington). I have in the past been forced to. Once on a Sunday-who else is open. The other at 7am-likewise. The first was to cyhange a tyre on a hire car which had disintegrated while marshalling on the Scottish rally...ahem. They could not have been more helpful. Even made the rim vaguely round again all for the fitting charge. The second was disappointing £9 to balance a wheel (3 mins work) and then to be told by the Portugese fitter that it was only 5gm out so it must be something more like new brake disk etc etc etc. Bullsh1t more like. Car vibrated at 40 and 80mph on 13 inch rims (commuter shopping trolley) and with 600miles to go that day it needed balancing. Those speeds tie in with wheel vibration harmonics the brake disk harmonics are totally different.
Like all things. Reputations vary from place to place. So go warily.

I used to get my tyres from Charlie Brown's autocentre, who are owned by Kwik Fit. Unfortunately Kwik Fit recently closed down my local Charlie Brown's, which is a shame.

I did find out why though. I asked one of the (very good) tyre fitters at Charlie Browns why Kwik Fit had closed them down. "Because they're CS" was his succinct rejoinder. So now we know.
