"The Queen" and Cherie Blair
Discussion
I was re-watching "The Queen" last night and have a question. Is Mrs Blair as much of an ignorant b!tch as the movie portrayed? I know they did not mean it as such but she looked to be one of those idealists that think they have it all figured out but actually knows nothing of the real world....trying to punch well above her station both intellectually and experience-wise. The Queen came across as the better of the two. I like her quote; "Service first, self second, that is how I was brought up, it is all I have ever known". That sure is a far class above the trashy demeanor and disregard for values that Mrs. Blair displayed. It baffles me that the very values and steadfastness that made England a world power are made fun of by the very ones benefiting from it today.
Sorry, just a rant from an outsider.

My only knowledge of Cherie Blair has been gained from a taxi driver I used to use regularly. He was quite a keen labour supporter until the day he had to give Cherie Blair and a couple of her team a ride somewhere.
He said she was totally arrogant and patronising, and as a result he swore he'd never vote labour again.
I've never seen "The Queen", but from your description I can well believe it to be an accurate portrayal.

I recommend it; a rather good watch. He said she was totally arrogant and patronising, and as a result he swore he'd never vote labour again.

I thought that both Michael Sheen and Helen Mirren were exceptional in their roles in that film. Especially Helen.

A friend of mine is in the Met and part of SO19. As such one of her jobs is the rather monotonous task of standing outside number 10 for hours on end. She said that Tony Blair was a friendly and decent bloke, chatty and polite. Mrs Blair on the other hand was an ignorant, rude and arrogant cow with a face like a horses arse!
