I honestly thought he would be a shoe in for the next Man U manager, when Fergie eventually leaves. I guess this would be very far from the case if he went to Anfield, I'm sure 7-1 defeats to Chelsea don't help his case for either job.

Is he a better manager than Benitez? I'm not convinced...

You are joking? A man who has put together a top six side with little or no money and you compare him with Rafa?

O'Neil is a great manager who has put together a good side who on their day are as difficult to beat as any of the top four clubs and can on occasion come out on top with a result. I do however think they are a little inconsistent and can have a bad run, but to compare him with Rafa is wrong in my opinion.

He has had quite a bit of cash to splash really. Moyes has put together a team on a shoestring.

Difficult to beat is nowhere near enough - he has to win consistently, preferably with some style.

i think he is an awesome manager and celtic would be a step backwards. what value is there to fighting rangers for a title each year in comaprison to the liverpool job?....

he has made a team capable of challenging the top four and taken those players beyond their capabilities, he can tactically turn a game around ( eg reading in the cup) and very few people can do that these days...

To say he's spent no money isn't exactly true. £12mill on downing, an and undisclosed fee for warnock

Can anyone name one player that O'Neil has paid millions for that is really, really, REALLY st.

If you can only name four or five he's head and shoulders above Benitez.

Also someone mentioned him changing a game at half time, what the hell is all that about? Being a Liverpool fan I thought it had become illegal to change ANYTHING about your team until the 67th minute!

Look, I said Heskey, Heskey is Top Trump, I've played my joker "Uno" and it's end of game you loose - goodnight thems the rules.

I have watched that useless lump play footie my whole life and will never understand how he is a pro with England caps as a front man, ever.

I like O'Neil, but Heskey. Oh My God.You win games with skill, craft and speed and someone who actually shoots at the goal and may once in a while score. Not the Heskey way.

hehe

Top Trump? TOP TRUMP?

You have no idea. Reading your post I feel like an African refugee listening to a fat American complaining of hunger after only three cheeseburgers. You have no idea what pain and frustration really means. You've spent your sorry ass life thinking you're hard done to because you've "watched Emile Heskey play footie". Consider those of us who have to support Premiership football clubs with players who get nowhere near "playing footie". I'm talking about fifty grand a weekers who cannot control a football with their first touch, I'm talking about useless chumps that can't tackle, or pass, and get away with it by being young.

I'm not wasting any more time on someone who clearly lives on a different planet, a better place, a life where Emile Heskey frustrates you. Forget the game, I had my strategy mapped out to hammer you into submission. Whichever direction you turned my armoury would've devastated you. I have the likes of Dirk Kuyt at my disposal FFS.

Instead I shall simply erase you from orbit, it doesn't even take more than one word. I bid you farewell...........

LUCAS.

Listen. I am a sometime season ticket holder at Southend United FC I have spent years, decades watchign lower league footy - there is nothing, I repeat NOTHING that you know about bad football that could compare with watching the mighty blues huff and puff down at the Hall, making the Local sunday Pub team look good. And all being done on a budget that would pay for Torres' hairbands for year.

Seriously I've seen Rob Earnshaw turn out for Norwich and look like he is a class above everyone on the pitch. That is what we're talking about here.

This is why I know that Heskey should not be in the prem, and should never go near and England squad.

My Prem team for what it's worth is weakly Liverpool mainly due to being a big Dalglish/Souness/Thompson fan back in the day when I were a lad.
