Hopefully the new Govt will not go through with this, but anyway here is the No10 petition should you want to vote against http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/VHFvsDAB/

We do not need an increase in quantity of channels.

Yes we do. We have no other stations apart from the BBC that have national coverage.

These people have no right to use the word "we". They do not speak for me.

Quantity is pointless unless there is quality as well.

In 2015, if the Government has its way, 50 million radios will become obsolete and will end up being thrown out.

How environmentally friendly is that?

The Government sees money in this - issuing licence fees to the hundreds (they think) if new stations that will start up.

I should add that I don't particularly want FM turned off either, & I understand that the alternatives are not brilliant. I think a lot of manufacturers have stopped producing DAB car audio.

However I do think that the BBC has got a monopoly of listeners. When travelling there are no stations other than the BBC that have national coverage which is bloody annoying.

We do need more stations. How that is achieved I don't know or really care but I do get annoyed when I read petitions like this telling me what I want or don't want. I want an alternative to the BBC, that's what I want.

I have several radios/ stereos around the house, all in perfect working order no reason to think any of them are going to pack up soon, I don't want to have to buy new expensive radios unless they break first.
