I'm 6' 3" and fit the Roadster, although on long journeys I find it more comfortable to put my left foot under the clutch pedal.

I've read some people find the sports seats uncomfortable after a while.

I'm similar build (I guess), and I find the Sports Seats fine - even on long drives. Gives great support when hard cornering.

Thanks for the responses. Is there anything I should be looking out for in a higher mile example (85-90k 2004 3.0)?? Also what is the cost of Tax on the 3.0?

Cheers

Not sure on the exact tax, but it is just below the top band for the year!

Engines are pretty strong, probably the same issues as any 3 series etc might have - but not sure what that would be!

I think the tax on the 3.0 is lower than yo'd think. @ £235 iirc

IIRC the 3.0 manual is below the mega high threshold and the 3.0 auto is above. Could be wrong though.

The pre-facelift 3.0i is 221g/km, post-facelift 3.0Si is 204g/km. Both in band K IIRC, £245/year. IIRC auto's are slightly higher co2 but not enough to push them into the higher band.

Also, I'm 6'1 (185cm) and just shy of 14st and find the standard (non-sport) seats comfier than the sport seats. But that's mainly due to my very wide shoulders, so if you're regular build you should be fine in either.

3.0i Auto is 231g/km - pushing it into the L band - £425 of your finest per year.

Has it gone up a lot since last year then? On 30/4/09 my 3.0SE auto was £210.

They introduced new bands this year - so last year you were in the same band, but this year it is more.

Not the headline figure I just realised, as it was registered before 2006 - it will be Band K £245

The best thing you can do is get down to a dealer and sit in one. If you have a wide back, you may find sports seats uncomfortable. If you have long legs, you may find it cramped.

That said, I'm 6 foot with a fairly wide back and 14st, and I have no complaints from my Coupe - even with my silly driving position.

I'm currently looking at a roadster and went and sat in an 04 plate one last weekend as I was worried I wouldn't fit in them....

At 6ft7 and 18 1/2 stone I was surprised when I did...I mean it was tight, but I did. So the OP shouldn't have much to worry about!

That was with the normal seats mind, not sure about the sports seats!

The MX-5 and S2000 are definitely off my list though, I didn’t have a chance of getting in either of those!

No chance with sports seats. I'm 6ft 4 and a bit and I only just fit in the normal seats (left knee/dash interface). Sports seats are curved at the back and you lose and inch or two legroom.

I thought the knee/dash conflict would be a major problem for me but for some unknown reason it wasn't, bags of headroom in there too.

I tried both a 3.0l with leccy seats and a 2.2 with manual seats for comparison whilst I was there. The manual definitely had a bit more play in it, and I also found that if I had the leccy seat right back, I couldn't get it to a comfortable position. I actually had to move it forward half an inch or so which allowed me to lower it a bit more and lean the seat a bit further back and then it was fine.

I just need to find one with the right combination of options now, Ellipsoid wheels seem to be thin on the ground at the moment.
