A month or so ago i was shopping around for insurance for my Eunos Roadster 1.6 S-Special, all i was getting were stupid quotes of £750 and over fully comp.

Im 23 yrs old with 6 yrs no claims. Car has side skirts and after market front bumper, rest is stock.

Thought i was going to have to bite the bullet and pay over the odds (i called all suggested "specialists" and none were interested in reducing the quote).

I got online quote with Aviva, £561 with foreign use, courtesy car, protected no claims, legal protection. However, it came up with Mazda MX5. I thought oh well, its a good start, but its bound to go up.

Next day, i called to discuss quote, he left it at Mazda MX5, put full breakdown with home start on, and it was £650 ish. Fair enough. Then i thought i'll see if putting mum on will make any difference. It came down to £520 for the same cover as above!

Today, i rang again, as i was worried about the Mazda instead of Eunos quote. The guy changed it to a 'Mazda Eunos Cabriolet' (after asking how to spell Eunos... ah knowledgable staff wink)then he confirmed quote as... deep breath - £481.46 yikes Its cheaper!!!!! Confirmed everything, thrice, and bought the cover.

Hope this is encouragement to all young MX5/Eunos drivers, and Import owners alike!

I'll be on the road on 1st April at last driving

I'm well chuffed with it, that gives me money to play with now its almost MOT time, and could do with a service and such, and, for a change no money worries, so im happy biggrin

And, how good it feels to drive one again after, erm, nearly 18 months since my last one died (after costing me a small fortune as it never worked properly!), Bring on the good times driving
