I'm considering one of these because they seem to offer complete protection (GPS / Radar and Laser in one unit.)

Has anyone had one of these, and can comment on how good they think it is.

If I don't get one of these it would have to be an Origin b2 or Road Angel.

B.T.W. Do speed camera manufacturer all like the film 'The Matrix'? Neo, Morpheous whats next - the Smith 1500 Architect anti gatso rocket?!

I had one for evaluation. There were so many different bits to load into the car that I never got around to it and gave it away in a competition in the end!

Aha, does that mean it's a bit difficult to install - I thought it was an all in one unit?

There was the display unit, the radar detectgor thing and some other bit too. Then wires to hitch them all together and then you've got to find somewhere to put it all.

Might be very good kit but I just couldn't be arsed to set it all up and secure it.

I've got one, it's ok when it works... the gps antenna connector is royally sh!te though...

costs £5/month to update after the first 6 months, and tbh you don't need the radar box anyways. Probably a better bet would be the snooper S4-Neo GPS detector. This one talks to you and is a pure GPS/Laser unit, all in one (unlike the road angel's unit and laser detector addon)...

May look into the S4 then.

Just wondering, do the police still use radar, or is it only laser now? If so, then there is not much point having the radar part giving you false alarms I suppose.

Dave - mine has poor reception too - you reckon it is the connection? any advice?

Cheers

Well I emailed performance products (the people who make snoopers) and they sent me out a postage paid envelope to send my S6 back to them - I didn't though as it started working fine, it's decided to mess up on me again though, so I shall be re-emailing them to tell them to await my S6 in the post.

Since then, it has:

Totally reset itself (lost all memories etc)
Reset all it's values to the quietest - no alert, 000metre distance alert, etc
The backlight has been sketchy in operation
It sits on the "finding satellite" screen for ages, sometimes never going above one satellite (which isn't actually a sat, it's the base marker)
It reckoned I was doing 200+ mph at one point too (an achievement in a 306 DTurbo I think you'll agree, past a school no less!)

If i was you, I'd email them - I think the address is info@performanceproducts.co.uk, detail your concerns about the unit and they should send you an envelope to send the unit and GPS antenna by return of post.

Imho the connector on the side of the unit is the wrong size, I was actually thinking about going down to mappers to see if they had any 3rd party GPS antennas before sending mine back.

Is your GPS antenna plug a 90 degree one, or is it a straight plug? mine is the 90 degree one and PP reckon it is the 'updated' model, so I dunno what the score is.

HTH, Dave

I got one shortly after getting the chim. no problems, easy ish to transfer from car to car if you haven't fully plumbed it in. I don't know if the Laser/Radar detection has all the range I would want but quite happy with the gps part, but it can lose signal fairly easily with some tree lined roads and had no signal driving past a trap in luton on a cloudy day a while ago

Ive just got the radar laser unit for mine and it works well , bear in mind snooper now have the s4 s3 and the s6 , so their database should get a lot better or they will stuffed, although its never failed to spot a metal dick turpin everywhere ive been , i think the GPS ariel is a cheapie , ive got a Trimble GPS ariel i would use if i could find out where to get the connector
