don't go with british gas - they wanted £3.5k to fit the same boiler a local plumber did for £1400.
just phone the local gas men (yellow pages) and find one with a spare day. you should be able to find one next-day..
Go for British Gas! They did a retrospective policy for me and a system (have a boiler with thermal store system that went wrong) that a local firm quoted £4K for cost me £1.7K....NB that hurt whatever way you look at it. just phone the local gas men (yellow pages) and find one with a spare day. you should be able to find one next-day..
Also, they arrived within 3 hours of starting the policy and let me pay interest free over 4 months.
Good car subject......

Is that £1,400 all in boiler + fitting + dreaded or just the labour?just phone the local gas men (yellow pages) and find one with a spare day. you should be able to find one next-day..
Also anyone know of a good plumber in Reading - hopefully its a simple fix which Br Gas will do else it will be new boiler route which Im really dreading.
It should be between £1400 and £1800 all in depending on the quality of boiler. Worcester Bosch or Vaillant are generally the most recommended but will come in at £1800 ish.
Cheaper ones are available but you get what you pay for.
I paid £1900 last year for a Vaillant with power flush and magnaclean filter that gave me a 5 year warranty. Sod BG - they wanted £3000 for the same boiler.

In our family home we have Worcester not had any issues with it to date - and when I lived in the other house I think it was Prima or potterton either way did the job but I want high quality reliability & good efficiency.Cheaper ones are available but you get what you pay for.

British Gas never, never for paying, and in my book never, never for using, with the best option being, find a local reliable Gas Safe installer
Glancing online c£3-5k for one of their boiler installations.... !!!! Talk about high overheads I'd happily use a local trader to do the same work I prefer reputation over the big business.Oh yea... job sorted... the pilot light had gone out must have been a power cut at anyway it was a 3 min repair took off the cover (which gives access to the reset button) press & hold pilot light relit job done.
Red faces for the tennants & sadly for me a lost nights sleep with worry over the potential cost & logistics for repair.
