I bought one about three weeks ago and it seems to be okay. Once you've downloaded the data (either via PC or the modem supplied), it warns you as you approach each GATSO. It's also supposed to warn you of SPECS traps, but I haven't been anywhere with that risk, so far. Meanwhile, the K Band radar detector chirps away merrily as you approach the active GATSOs and picks up various other sources as well - best not to treat it as anything other than a warning of a potential radar trap, most of the time.
My main gripe is that there's too much cable for the readily removable option, which I tend to use mainly because I don't like leaving a relatively valuable item on display all the time when the car is parked. The result is a bulky stash of cable sitting on the dashboard, looking rather untidy. I suppose the cable could be shortened to the required length, but it's not a job for an amateur electrician.
Overall, I find that it does tend to keep me well aware of the risks and I suspect that I'm driving more warily - and probably slower - as a result, so it will probably help to protect my licence. I went out without it this evening and found myself going much faster!
Hope that helps.

I've got a snooper and have hidden all the wire and hard wired it in, I prefer it to the road angel as there are no wires that can be seen and the unit does not have to sit on the dashboard. You can still unplug the unit if you don't want to leave it in your car.
I have a spare aerial so that I can use it in other cars (without the radar/lasre option though).
I have found it works very well.

Turn the radar part of the RLD off as most/all police forces only use laser
