Can i take a watchmakers screwdriver on a aircraft?

This has to be the clearest PH thread title in a while.

I really need to take a watch makers screw driver on my flight tomorrow but I am flying hand luggage only.

are they allowed?

I doubt it really matters that this is from the BAA Heathrow page, I'd assume it's the same for all airports, but...

Can I take nail scissors?
No. Sharp or pointed items must not be carried in hand baggage and will be confiscated at security control. This includes knives, cutlery, tools, hiking poles, hypodermic needles (unless medical need can be proved), catapults, corkscrews, toy or replica guns, sporting bats or cues, darts and scissors (scissors with rounded blades up to 3cm are permitted).

No way! I always used to carry my tools on by hand but now you cannot take anything resembling a screwdriver on board. Over the years I've even had four pens confiscated (stolen) by airport security, presumably to stop me from running amok and scribbling the pilot to death!

The rules are silly... No nail clippers, but they will happily give you metal cutlery with your meal!

Only metal cutlery in first/business class. Pauper class has plastic usually. Even Al Qaeda's budget has been streched in the credit crunch so airlines know they can't fly in anything other than economy.

I wouldn't risk it, had a set binned the other year.

Funnily enough I'd been through security twice (long story......), bag searched both times, and they only noticed the second time.

Continental (yes, one of the airlines flying regularly into the New York area) give metal cutlery in coach.

Pens? Bugger.. Did wonder if that would happen to me one day.. I always use a fountain pen and wouldn't be happy to have them confiscated.. I've always assumed they woul dbe ok as you can buy them usually quite easily once through security at most airports..
