Well, that's six hours of my life i won't get back 
WTF is it with some car dealers?
It was a good looking Rangie, with a few small issues, and a couple of missing stamps from the service book, but supporting invoices as evidence. I spent half an hour looking very carefully over the car. I discovered why i was feeling chilly, apparently the outside temperature was minus 35!
Blues "I'm very interested in the car"
Dealer "do you want to test drive it!
Blues "yes, but first i think we should sort out the price, subject to a satisfactory test drive"
Dealer "oh"
Blues "It's not quite as pristine as described. There is a big chip in the middle of the windscreen in the driver's vision, one headlamp cover is cracked, and there are a couple of scratches on the paint"
Dealer "its a 6 year old car"
Blues "OK, so are you going to fix these things, or shall we adjust the price"
Dealer "we don't fix things like this"
Blues "OK, well i'm not happy about paying the screen price, so to save time, tell me the best price, and i'll say yes or no right here and now"
Dealer "it doesn't work like that"
Blues "Oh, why not"
Dealer "i don't want to shoot myself in the foot"
Blues "I don't understand. Its simple. Tell me how much you want for the car"
Dealer "I've been in the trade 14 years, it doesn't work like that, make me an offer"
Blues "It took me 2.5 hours to get here, i'm serious about the car. Give me your best price"
Dealer "it doesn't...
Blues "You can sell me the car right now, but i need to have your price"
Dealer "it....
Blues "Thanks for your time, let me give you my number, and if you find yourself wanting to sell the car, give me a call and let me know how much"
Dealer "No, its not necessary, i won't be calling you"
Blues "Thanks for your time, cheerio"
Has anyone told him that it is a buyer's market for large, V8 petrol engined cars?
Ah well, at least i had fun drivng the Tuscan in the rain.
