Switching Utility suppliers.....
Discussion
Lived in the current house now (which is our first house) for just over two years now.
Have never switched suppliers before but decided it was time to have a look at doing so.
How the bloodsy hell do you decipher a bill??
We currently get both electricity and gas from scottish power.
I'm looking at our annual statement to get my figures but they're all over the place.
For example:
Gas: 26/08/09 - 8/12/09 £161.97 (+standing charge)
Gas: 9/12/09 - 31/12/09 £79.44 (+SC)
Gas: 1/1/10 - 18/02/10 £166.80 (+SC)
Electricity for same periods as above
£82.27 (+SC)
£21.40 (+SC)
£43.06 (+SC)
Or if I look at consumption for the whole of last year I get:
Gas:
Last Year: consumption in KwH: 10668
This Bill: consumption in KwH: 11336
Electricity:
Last Year: 467
This Bill: 1714(!)
Depending on which figures I enter into comparison websites I egt various savings or overspends
With one set of figures the website claims to halve my annual bills and with another it claims it will double!
If it matters we are currently on dual fuel from Scottish Power.
I feel I can save some money here somehow. I'm just not show how!!!

I just look at the bottom line, that's the only bit that interests me. How it gets there is immaterial.
I moved to Gritish Bass because the girl who came round looked pretty. Can't be bothered to change - the bills seem reasonable and if I try to move it will either go wrong, or the cheap company will put its prices up, or both.

If you do decide to swap suppliers dont forget to use Quidco, I switched between different nPower tarrifs and got money back.

Most appropriate - you'll need a migraine clinic after trying to decipher the bills!!http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/migraineclinic
