Hypothetical situation:-

Current Situation

£25,000 in bank
Car worth £5,000
Live at home with parents. Soon to be moving in with other half (renting). £600p/m split between 2.
Take home pay of around £1,600.

Interested in a new car, making a few investments, living a little, saving some for a rainy day.

Help me work out what to do!

Make an investment in a new car, live in it and only drive it on a rainy day.

Wait a few months to see if the GF starts to piss you off.

Then put the 25K down as deposit for a house, I see you live in Teesside so probably half a street.

If you can get out of the circle of renting then i would TBH.

Stick with a modest car, scrap any ideas of renting, put all your money into a property that you have bought cheap and carry on saving.

Don't splurge too much of the £25k, it's not easy saving house deposit levels of money.

Great reasons, Live(rent) together for 2-3 months whilst looking for a house to buy. If you still get on then buy, if not then move back home. Saw 3 seperate mates in 6 months fk their relationships up by moving in straight away without even living together. All of these were 2-3 year relationships before.

^^ This.

This is what I would do.

I long to play pirate games but just don't get the chance.

Do all of the "don't rent" brigade, please see this thread for some additional info. I have decided that (for now) renting is by far the best options. It may not be the best way to spend it but it carries far less risk for my current situation.

Thanks for the input so far.

PS. £600 gets you a nice 2 bed apartment in a decent area round here.
