Probably a stupid question, but if I isolate the battery (as I am told) to use the battery conditioner, am I likely to lose all the pre-programmed radio stations, etc, as a consequence of doing so?

usually you would use the conditioner without switching off the battery isolator. Yes you would need radio code after using the isolator, that should be in your docs - if not the original supplying dealer should have it and if that fails then pull out the unit using the becker tools (available on ebay if you dont have) get the serial number and maranello can get it for a fee.

Note also if you use the isolator you will need to leave windows down a fraction if you need to open doors before reconnecting (which you would unless you dont close bonnet). Also on reconnection ECUs need to have a rethink, manual gives procedure on how long to leave ignition on before engine start

Thanks a ton. I thought it strange to isolate the battery as never needed to with my Aston, but the dealer advised this along with the window-down tip....

oh and in case anyone is interested....aside from the radio issues, I have now found out that isolating the battery does also send an alarm to the tracking company to inform them that the battery has been disconnected.....should have left well alone.
