Didn't a similar move delay the BA strikes that were scheduled for last Christmas?

[quote]It's becoming increasingly easy for employers, unhappy at the prospect of a dispute, to rely on the courts to intervene and nullify a democratic ballot for industrial action on a mere technicality

Indeed! biggrin

I appreciate WHY the unions are here, but I really despise them.

yes A lot of them are as corrupt as the management they oppose.

My dad told stories of working on shop floors in the 60s where the democratic union vote was heavily policed. There would be an open ballot and anyone not voting the right way would end up in the local A&E!

That was 50 years ago. The police were routinely corrupt, racisim was rampant and theworking man knew his place.

Society has changed, along with most unions, or what is left of them. Management has also changed.

Recent strikes, or the threat of, are a failure of negotiation.

I saw Bob Crowe being interviewed on the telly and he said "this is round one of a fifteen round fight". Well it's not round one because he can't even find his way into the ring.

Oh yes he can. Right up Labour's ring, all the way. And with it, UK PLC.
