I know this has most probably been asked before. I've noticed a USB socket in the back of my Sky HD box and was wondering if you could put a memory stick or portable hard drive in it and increase the amount that could be recorded.

Is this a stupid question?

not stupid, but the answer is no - they are there for "future" use. You might be able to charge your ipod or something, but no data transfer

I thought it was for software upgrades so the sky 'engineers' can flash them.

Video playback from an external HDD would be REALLY handy smile

Just noticed that ITV-HD has popped up on channel 178.
