Bad colour combinations - 355-360
Discussion
I am slowly convincing myself that I need to buy a 355/360 and follow it up with a more sensible 4 seater (911TT).
The car needs to sit on the road so for that reason I would not really consider a red or yellow car (although there is a red 430 parked a few streets away)- I just wondered whether there are any colour combinations that aren't good for resale? I really like the idea of Le Mans Blu with Crema leather or black paint/black leather or would be happy with California Blue With Crema.
Given a max budget of £40k I'm leaning more towards a mint 355 rather than a leggy 360..........wondered if anyone had any thoughts on this?
Thanks in advance

That way of thinking is a problem. An ultra low mileage 355 can be way more trouble than a so called leggy tried and proven 360. Dont go to stupidly low on the 355 mileage, and no 360 is to leggy.Go go into the market thinking that way, go for the car you like and forget about the mileage thing. Buy on condition and comprehensive service/history.

Well, I have been in the market for a 360 for a couple of months now and have noticed that the silver ones tend to be considerably lower priced (10%), presumably as they are less desirable. In fact, I am restricting my search to red cars as resale is important in my case.
Silver is definitely cheaper. There was what looked like a tidy example on Auto Trader the other day for £35k - £5k cheaper than the next available car. But, if you buy cheap, you can sell cheap, so it's not an issue.

I'd be very hesitant leaving any F out in the street overnight but that's another issue. Living outside I would definitely go for a 360 and it's better build quality.
It isn't ideal I will give you - my 911 sits outside (I know not as attractive as a F) but that is what I pay the insurance premium for. I know of 360s/430s sitting on the road in other parts of London. If I bought for £5k less because of the colour then to sell at the same would be fine - I just wouldn't want to be stuck if I needed to move it on.
My 355 is living outside at the moment, albeit in my courtyard, while the garage is finished off and it seems to be holding up OK. I wash it most weekends just to keep the crap from building up but I wouldn't want it to live outside permanently. Perhaps with a good cover. I wouldn't leave it on the road in London though; I know plenty do live on residential streets around Chelsea/Belgravia but I'd be stumping up for a decent parking space, there are plenty around.
The wheel bolts however are covered in surface rust already and it really makes the car look shabby. I think I'll replace them with bolts from Hill Engineering when I have £200 knocking about which isn't being saved for the engine out service next spring.

I had seen that advert, it does look lovely - my only reservation was the mileage, if it had of said 37,696 miles instead of 42,696 miles I would have gone to look at it - I just wonder how easy it would be to resell at 50-55k 355? I know the rule of buying on condition is always banded around but I am I would be thinking of the resale (maybe too much!!)
I guess it's is unfounded really...

Nothing wrong with being outside, was thinking of theft/damage. I reckon it's better for a car to be outside with air circulating around it and covered with a breathable cover than hold up in the average garage with bugger all ventilation. I had a car of mine ruined in a lockup years ago after only a few months. Never again. Left my 348 outside under a fabric F cover and over the top the best outdoor cover I could find. Absolutely perfect after a winter, no problems at all. The wheel bolts however are covered in surface rust already and it really makes the car look shabby. I bought a 430 Spider in December and because I planned to use it everyday I decided I wanted a “subtle” colour so I went for TDF Blue with Creama leather. So god choice with the blue and cream The car needs to sit on the road so for that reason I would not really consider a red or yellow car (although there is a red 430 parked a few streets away)- I just wondered whether there are any colour combinations that aren't good for resale? I saw that one. It does look good, though it's perhaps slightly over priced for silver?Pulse said:
