I don't think a similar poll has been done before, but I'm really interested in what kitcars you will be buying or intend to, in the period that goes from 2010 to 2012.

This might give us an idea of where the kitcar industrry is heading and what potentially is missing, or what kitcar buyers are really looking for in their next kitcar purchase .

Not sure if my vote was correct in mid engined track day car but it will almost certainly be a Sylva J15.

Not likely to get to many track days though as Scotland is pretty sparsely popoulated with tracks. The roads in rural Aberdeenshire and the Highlands partky make up for this!

Ive built a couple of Sevens over the last few years, and still fancy building another, this new to the market Roadrunner SR2 is at the top of my list for my new project to build over next winter,a very comprehensive kit, single MX5 doner, top quality CAD designed lazer cut chassis, and the bodywork is the best Ive seen on any kit,and looks great value for money.

I have an article in a 1984 'Component Car' on the Fugitive 2, John. Have you seen it, would you like a scan?

Battery power isn't quite there yet.

Get the April edition of Kitcar magazine, there's a large feature on it, 60mph max speed and 60 mile range. Kit can be built with a Zetec though so still worth a look.

As for what to build, no idea, looking into the possibility of upgrading my Phoenix, if this doesn't work out, hope to sell that and build a full bodied kit of some type, there are too many Caterfield LSIS cars around. maybe a GKD Evolution, Image Monza or Raw Fulcrum.

Not that I know of, have a chat with the guys at the stand tomorrow and let me know!!!

If you want to waste some more of your precious time, feel free to ask Sylva or Raw if they can help with changing the rear end to IRS so that I can change the Diff ratio too. See the Rear suspension thread.

TBH the main reason I'm looking at changing the car is to get something a bit more useable on road trips and track days, I love the shape of the Phoenix and the performance but holding the revs at 6,500 at 65mph on DC gets a bit annoying and topping out at 120mph isn't much good for track days.

Interesting data , sevens are still going to be the mainstay of the industry.....and trackdays will continue their trend in the next 2yrs.

Just noticed that very few are interested in Funcars such as Buggies......

Looking forward to more votes.......smile

Interesting Poll, the 7 is still the format to beat, I would be interested to know what some of the "others" are.

I still think the Elise factor is having an impact on the kit car market generally despite the people who "enjoy the build" aspect. A lot just want a cheap fun car will be swayed towards an S1 Elise, MR2 Roadster and I now see you can pic up SLK Mercs for 4k!.

I think the "enjoy the build" people only make up a small percentage of the kit car market, the rest just want a cheap fun car now they have a choice of just buying something or build it.

I think the Ultima, GD, RCR, (plus others I have forgotten)market seem to trudge on irrespective of the above as they seem to be people who want to create a supercar beater, different customer all together.

Don't underestimate the cheap alternative manufactures cars, they are having an impact on potential kit buyers.
You could say thats their loss, and your right but it does not help the manufacturers.

I was impressed with the MEV Missile and in my head built one with a few styling twists. But the range was only 60 miles, and with the best will in the world i would not use it properly because of that. It worked out about £11k on the road, I was hoping it would be a bit cheaper than that too. For another £10k you can use litho-ion batteries, doubling the range apparently, but battery longevity and a few nasty stories about those batteries would put me off that outlay. Fantastic concept, looked great fun but a bit too dear for a 60 mile range for me. £7k and i'd have found the money somewhere!
