New brakes!

Had the first outing of the year in the car yesterday
The weather is rubbish today so fitted these -

Straight forward fit apart from the hoses which unscrewed off the caliper no problem but have gone back twisted. Can't shift the union joint on the hub bracket.
The springs on the outside of the caliper, one doesn't seem to be doing anything. Not sure if it has got bent in the past. will get some new ones when the factors are open again.

Same brakes as mine - courtesy of Hans - very good & excellent under 'testing conditions' - will be great for Eurotrip.

Depending on pads fitted they get better the warmer they get

To fit the hoses you have to disconnect both ends (inboard end first if poss, then caliper), reconnect the caliper end first then reconnect the inboard end otherwise you're twisting the hose as you tighten it.

The inboard end is pretty tight I'm guessing that the hose will turn at this end.
Tried getting a couple of spanners on but it just bends the bracket.

If you get some plus gas release fluid on it I guaranteed you'll get it undone, I would say its a bit dodgy having twisted flexible hoses and I would imagine its an MOT fail.

Have used WD40 on it but no luck, heard plus gas is good, will try to get some tomorrow.

The hoses have twisted but not a massive amount. I will sort it though.

I got Ferodo DS pads from Hans which should be good. Need to get the hoses and wheel nut sorted.
Then get out and see how much better they are.

Hi Alan they look very smart. Plus-gas is good but you need to be patient, best to let it soak in overnight and keep addding a bit for really rusted items, then work it back and forth until you have full movement. Alternative method although I may be off track, can you not twist the caliper onto the hose to reduce the amount of twist when tightening the hose?

Thanks Damon, i had to twist the calliper on to the hose end which wasn't ideal but its nearly there. will get some stuff on it and let it work.

Was hoping to get up to Malton in it on Sunday but wont have time tomorrow.

Might have a new daily driver to take hopefully.

Morning Alan, Malton looks good with some nice cars attending I am not going but hope you make it. Hope you get the brakes sorted too. Still on stands this end but lifted her up to the maximum so I have better access to rub down and paint the passenger side chassis. I can seee where I have been so its quite satisfying although its hard graft.
