147 wiper problem

wifey's '07 147 JTDm has a problem with the wipers. the wipers don't come on when you push for screen wash, they sometimes freeze mid wipe, and most recently only the fast wipe setting activates the wipers.

any ideas?

A fairly common problem on the GTV seemed to be the wiper motor giving similar(-ish) symptoms, not sure if the motor is the same on the 147.

If it's an '07 it should still be inside the third year of the warranty, shouldn't it?

yep. until september.

so you reckon the motor is shagged?

Mine had the same problem so I bought a new motor and intermittent unit, well one off a scrapper anyway as the price of a new one was a couple of hundred. I figured it was just the magneto marelli PCB and swapped that but it didn't work and it turned out to be something within the denso motor unit. I've not had the time to open up the motor to see if there's anything I can repair. People say it is sometimes the contacts within the motor that have burned out or are in need of a clean up.
