I'm concerned my laptop is running too hot.

It's an Acer Aspire 5536 with an AMD Turion Dual Core processor.

I'm running a virus scan at the moment and the CPU temp is apparantly 70 degrees and has recorded a high of 77. Using a program called Core Temp.

Sounds like the fans are working.

Any cause for concern? It's not that old so under warranty if needs be.

It's sat on a hard wooden desk top so should be OK for cooling. Is it worth getting a cooling mat or something?

Mine is busy streaming veetle, as well as trancoding a movie, and this is the temp...

70 doesn't sound particularly high.

Decided to render some 3d CAD stuff to get it up to 100% usage for a while.

Managed to get it to 89 celcius...

Cooler is always better for stability but those temps are not obscene for a CPU Intel's Core Duo desktop processors start to throttle at around 100 degrees wink around 65/70 is considered pretty normal in a working/pushed desktop PC,its generally the overclockers who like the lower temps <60 because it makes the overclock more stable biggrin

I swear by my Belkin cooler pad to keep things a bit cooler. Not checked actual CPU temp though.

I regularly see over 90-95 on my macbook pro with the fans on full when rendering.

Highest I have seen was 102.
