I'm looking at a purchasing an RoadSport RV that Caterham currently have.

Is it possible to retro fit a lowered floor to it (the Car is the spec I want bar the lowered floor) but being a muppet I forgot to ask whilst I was at the dealership (basic mistake I know) as the car I was sitting in already had a lowered floor.

Anyone able to shed some light for me? I guess as it's available on the parts site, my answer is yes, but as they are now shut until tuesday, I can't ask them.

Is it is possible - anyone know what I'm likely to be charged for the work to be done?

If the answer is yes, I may be phoning them to arrange getting it transferred from "up north" to "down south"

Cheers

I had it done on my SV, so definitely can be done by Caterham. You can fit it yourself but there are a lot of rivets to drill out and reinsert. Caterham can do it for you and they have the proper rivetter rather than you developing Popeye-like forearms.

Cost was about £400. From memory this was £250 for the floor and c£100 for the fitting - about £400 with VAT. May well be more now as this was 4 years ago.

Definitely doable, should you have the time and the patience.

There are 260 rivets / side...
You'll need a tube of marine sealant..
Best to have a 90 degree offset air-drill, and a floor slider and 4 jack stands to get your car 2' from the floor
Plan on 2 weekends if doing your self; removal weekend, installation weekend

you may also need a air-powered metal-nibbler, chasis' vary very slightly....

But very doable......

I take it that cost was for fitting only?

Not that I've had it done (no need as I have a long cockpit 7 with bench seats) but I've seen plenty being done by Chris at The 7 Workshop (www.7workshop.com).

A call to him is always a good chat biggrin

Mike,

Nope that was fitting and parts. Think it's cheaper if you get it done at the same time you buy a car.
