How to fit these centre caps??

Hello guys, this may sound like a stupid question but how do you remove the original centre caps of the 18inch spiders?

Ive bought some nice shiny new gold ones which clip in and are not just stickers, but I cant seem to pop the old ones off.

Any help please?

Did it involve taking the wheel off and pushing them out?

Don't know about gold ones,but std. ones have 3 legs and a large cir-clip (if they're sill on) and they pop out from inside to outside, so it does involve taking the wheel off...but you can't clean a car properly with it's wheels on ...so you might aswell take them off.

I was advised to take the wheels off and pop them out from the inside if I wanted to avoid damaging the original centres, but the originals ones were totaly knackered and looked horrible anyway so i managed to pop them out with a knife, damaged the old centre caps but that didnt bother me as they were going in the bin anyway.
