Help! Dont know if im missing something obvious but ive just replaced the actuator on my brothers st202 gt4. The strange thing is that now the speedo reads kmh and the speed limiter has returned does anyone know what could cause thisconfused i did disconnect the battery as i had to remove the alternator but apart from this i do not know what i could have done to cause this banghead

You say ST202 GT4. Do you mean ST205? Or has your brother fitted the 3SGTE engine into the lower FWD model?

I don't know for sure, but I would imagine that there is a speed limit remover and speedometer converter attached to the rear of the dials, and if it's not a simple switch arrangement, it may be that disconnecting the battery has reset the converter etc. to factory settings.

I don't know if such a device exists, I always thought they were just simple mechanical converters.

It will either be a box of tricks attached to the back of the clocks (maybe a wire has been knocked off) or the same to the ECU, I dont think they are cionnected to the gearbox or anything around the actuator. Best bet will be to remove the clocks and have a look behind there.
