Window problem
Discussion
Not bad....managed 2 weeks before electrical problem (presumed)
Passenger door window went down no problem.......just won't go back up. Don't know if coincidental or not but when last switched off .......noticed lights around window switch on passenger side were illuminated (with key out of ignition) but not so on drivers side. Which is still the case.
Any help with cure much appreciated....or is this the point where I have to figure out who is going to sort my niggles for me
Thanks
Simon

Windows on a Mk2/Vert (as with all TVRs can be a pain).... What you need to bear in mind is that the window ECU counts the number of cog teeth movements to control the window position....and it easily gets confused...when its confused it flashes the centre console window lights yellow (and red). The ECU needs to remember the closed/open positions , so easiest way to reset it is to take the window to the top..this usually sorts out the flashing lights. The other way is from the outside just arm the alarm/then disarm, that will close all the windows and also reset it.
It your windows still refuse to move, you've got a real fault either caused by an ECU/a wiring loom fault usually in the door/or a mechanical/motor fault and you need to start taking things to bits or take it to X-Works in Kirkham
PS Be careful , I had a faulty ECU which allowed the window to be fully up when the door was open....bit of a disaster if you are not aware when you close the door...you either smash the window or damage the "A" frame.

Think my signs and symptoms are slightly different. This started after washing car and the centre console window lights on passenger side are on but not flashing.
I can open window from centre console but it won't go back up from switch. When I arm the alarm it closes no problem but that doesn't appear to have resolved problem.
I read on mytuscan.co.uk that it might be a problem with a pcb (? got wet when washing) but really struggling to find the bolts I need to undo to get to it.......and not sure I want to go there anyway !!
Looks like I may have to call in the cavalry !
PS Last 4 numbers of VIN are 1040......its Jonkiwi's old motor which is already in the register

Simon,
I'm not familiar with the Mk2, but it should be a very easy fix.
Most likely its the PCB window encoder. Because of water coming in between door and window it drops directly on the PCB / connector. In my case there was no cover to protect it !
If you can find the bolts to take out the door panel (mk1: 3 bolts at the bottom of the door pocket) you will find the PCB (small rectangular print plate with three-pin connector) mounted at the window motor.
Disconnect the connector and spray with WD40 or equivalent to remove the moisture/water.

Simon,
You can only see one the one that's most forward mounted, I think the others can't be seen but have you tried looking with your fingertips ? Or used your wifes make-up mirror and flashlight ?
Just looked at some pictures in adverts of mk2 doors. I can't imagine that TVR changed the mounting bolts/points. Door pockets ar very familiar to mk1.
So my guess is that they are exactly the same. 3 bolts at about 10 cm distance.

haha - this used to happen to me too, its just that the up button is stuck. stick your finger in behind the console where the up button is for the window and push on the back of it, you'll feel it pop back into position and then it will work fine.
hope you're enjoying my old car, it was a sad day to let it go, glad it found another pistonhead owner. any other problems, private message me and i'd be glad to offer previous owner advise.
