ECU problem

Well after a whole 15 miles driven yesterday ( first time since I had some work done in feb ) the cerb decided to breakdown.
There was no buzz from the fuel pump so I thought maybe fuel pump or an immobilser problem. But the problem was intermitant, sometimes it would start but then it would cut out again.
After 4 hours with the AA man and phone calls to Carl Baker and Raceproved ( thankyou! ) we decided that the ECU was the problem. With the car running you just have lightly tap the ECU and it would cut out, it will do this every time, its too consistant not to be that. I must of started it 20 times and with one light tap it would stall.
So either I have a loose wire in the big connector block or a dodgy soldered joint or something in the ecu.

Has anyone got a spare MBE they want to sell?

You can send it to MBE and they will fix the problem for you usually cheaper than a replacement ecu.

Make sure EPROM and NVRAM are seated properly.

I have a stack of foam blocks under the ECU lid to keep the EPROM seated. Without them the chip vibrates loose and the engine just cuts out.

They are properly seated. It pretty sure its a fault with the ECU. I need to get another one to plug in and see if the problem disappears. I was supposed to be driving it to germany tomorrow, absolutly no chance now. Typical.
