The other day i noticed a small oil patch on the garage floor coming from the left hand side (if you're standing behind the car),it's not exactly leaking (ie dripping), but it was still wet, and i can tell from the different colouration that it is over a few days, the car is not a daily driver and has had an oil leak before, something to do with a rocker cover??, it was sorted by another OPC, that was about 2 years ago. is this something to seriously worry about?. The car was serviced about 5 months ago and has put on less than 1'000 miles.is this something to worry about?. any advice would be appreciated.

Oil leaks can affect all 911s, but tend to be on the right hand side as you look at the car from the back, as this is where the dry sump tank is and the oil lines are. However, the barrels, rocker covers can leak etc.

Oil leaks can be pretty minor and not worth worrying about - but the bigger they are the more there is to worry about. Keep an eye on oil level and get it checked out. Small leaks aren't so critical, but watch out for any other running problems like misfires or funny temps.

As a consolation, the 993 should be less likely to have barrel leaks compared to earlier 911s as they were designed not to leak.

I have just had the same problem with my 993, it was the near side cam cover that was leaking oil. The part was about £60 + VAT from a Porsche Main Dealer and just took it to a local specialist to fit it. Cost around £110 including part and labour. No more oil on the garage floor!! I was told that they both tend to go at similar times but the other side is fine so far

The composite cam covers on 993's do warp away from the head and allow oil seepage. It's an easy repair and worth doing before you get oil in the heat exchangers stinking the cabin out

Is it just my imagination, or is there something about the processes that OPC's carry out when they do a service. To cut a very long (series) of stories short, everytime the OPC services it, it never feels the same, from wonky windscreen wipers (clonk, clonk), they fitted new blades, to leaking oil (this has happened twice now) with two seperate OPC's and,... the car always 'feels different' when driving it home and thereafter, definately more rattles n squeaks, maybe they give it a good thrashing on the post service test drive..., anyone else have similar opinions/sentiments?
