I was thinking of taking my 4 y/o son out tomorrow, and thought seeing as it is just down the road from Yateley and kind of en route to Windsor we could venture out to Maranellos and have a looksee what's there and see if he can sit in some of the cars again.

Anyone know what they have in there at the moment?

458?....

A couple of weeks ago they had a yellow 16M and a couple of 430 Scuds. Plus 599s, a California demo and lots of 430s. Did not see 458 but did not go in as they were closed. I think they are open Bank Holiday Monday.

Every visit there has been an Enzo in the showroom, ever since the Summer. The 458 Italia could possibly be there, I hear Maranello Sales get the first cars. Most times I visit there is a nice array of Scuderia's and California's, but I have not been since late February. Could you please write back on the thread after you have visited as I may want to visit soon, and it would be nice to see what is there first. smile

Enjoy your visit.

458s won't arrive at main dealers until June.

They are not in my good books.

I was looking to buy 3rd car from them.

When the telesales girl called 2 months ago, I told her I would be interested in a Cali. No further information sent as requested or phone call.

Picked up the phone to my salesman (who has now left, as well as the Business Manager) and the salesman who I spoke to has not bothered coming back to me about a 430 they have in.

Business must be good for them! There are so many dealers who could do so much better if they could just communicate.

What's worse is that I dropped in, stood around for ages, sat in a few cars and not one person spoke to me.

Strange, when I was there one afternoon a few weeks ago, I was asked if I needed any help ...

Every time I walk in there (my brother was at university in Egham and lived fairly close, so I'd call in or a nose every few weeks, even without driving the 355 down there) I'm asked if I need any help.

They've improved massively from the dreadful old (pre-Sytner) days when people would actively avoid you (a job which muppets at Porsche Mayfair now to do well by the way).

Interesting times ahead though - the DP/Managing Director who was parachuted in to get it back on its feet went on a long planned sabbatical last week, and the new guy has a load to live up to IMO given how things have turned around. Jon Morgan, their GSM, is a good bloke, root him out and sure he'll be welcoming. Ditto Marcus Uzzell, who runs new cars. Don't be put off by the sometimes-sucking lemons receptionists people, get further and they're great.

And agree with others, from what they tell me no 458's for a while yet.

From past experience i was disappointed by them, horrendous trade in value on my then merc (of i think 16k for a car which i later sold to an independent at 23k which they retailed at 27k) versus a maserati plus my car was better prepped than the ones they were trying to sell me. Appreciate they have changed hands since. Also Porsche Mayfair, came out of there after speaking to sales firmly set on never buying a car from them even though they are local to me, whereas their "parent" porsche west london were excellent.

Car dealers are more often rubbish as not though. Bought my Audi S3 from a main dealer, had a 2 foot long surface scratch on the bonnet (only visible under artificial lights), they forgot/lost the V5 transfer so i had to arrange all myself, car needed servicing after 600 miles despite docs saying was due in 5k/9 months which the garage refused to pay for and Audi UK told me it was between me and the garage. At the time i was considering an R8 the above put me right off.

rant over.

also saw a 458 in austria couple of days ago, only very briefly but thought it looked much better than the pics

You can't miss him - 6'7" (looks taller believe me) and built like a barn door. Have known him for years and is a great guy.

Not you at all. I had similar experience. Just depends on who you get. I went for a booked test drive and when I got there they said they would not let me drive it until we had "done the deal" on trading my car in. Since then I had same experience re California. Very helpful telesales girl asked if I was interested and when I said yes said they would get back to me. Nothing happened. I wouldn't mind but I have bought from them before. I guess previous posting is correct - business must be good!

I have to pick up on this - at the risk of going off topic and breaking rules - was wondering past OPC Mayfair recently and wandered in; as I went in there were two sales guys a few yards from the door chatting to each other. They took one look at me and decided it was best to continue their conversation elsewhere, away from pesky customers. Can only hope they were chatting about where the nearest job centre was when someone wised up and gave them the heave-ho....

Agree on MikeRob about Jon, looks bigger than 6 7.

There were 4 sales staff, and just myself and my son in there. They were quite welcoming, allowed me and Thomas to wander round, look in the cars, take a few photo's, bimble around a bit more, take some more photos, then we both thanked them and walked out for some outside shots.

Thomas loved it, and kept saying "Look Daddy, it's got no roof" or "Daddy, its got no gearstick, but you change gear with those things behind the steering wheel!" - not bad for a nearly 4 y/o smile

Thanks for all the info guys - knew I could count on the PH peeps to help me out smile

Not a good experience to report either. Between them they can't seem to be cohesive on a price, you don't get called back when trying to complete a deal, and I had to go in twice to finally conclude it. I only bought from them because I was told the car was pretty much ready to go, but apparently it'll still take two days before they can release it anyway.

It's not technically wrong, but they changed the price on me three times, each time increasing the price finally being £2K more than first negotiated, which is not great from a relationship point of view. Have had most of my cars serviced there but will be going to Joe Macari in future for that. Dealt with Marcus, not Jon, which might explain why the price changed so often (Marcus is new car sales manager). Even so, not particularly happy.

Gary @ HR Owen didn't have what I wanted but can report that the treatment was very favourable. I can also highly recommend Simon @ Graypaul. Forget Maranellos and just go straight to Graypaul, they can share stock anyway.

50:50 for me

Helpful when I arrived (prob helped I was in the 360) and informative.

Not so impressed when they explained test drives were only possible once I had pretty much done a deal on the car, err - how am I meant to decide between F1 and Manual?

Very mixed for me (the service team is excellent though)

I went in to collect an F40 part years ago and was sent packing as clearly I looked young and very scruffy, then went back with said F40 and they were all over me ... pathetic.

Been in recently a couple of times once with my 355 and they weren’t really bothered then again with my Granturismo slightly more bothered but not really what I expect. Certainly wouldnt go out of my way to buy a car off them.

The service lot were fantastic though recently the 355 was recalled and they were great even insisted on bringing it back on a low loader as the roads were a bit salty and "it was too good condition to drive on salty roads"

Very helpful with the GT as well.
