been to give the car a run - now it won't start !
No sound from the fuel pump, tested the yellow and black - no power getting to the pump.
Is the fuel pump relay one of the two on flying leads seperate from the others (thick brown, white/purple wires etc)?

Could be fuel pump fuse. Should say which one it is on the fuse board lgend on the inside of the glovebox lid.

AHH! I had a litle issue with this a while back. One of the wires for the FP fuse was too short and used to pull the contact out the back of the fuse block, so the fuel pump used to go intermittent.

As you say, relay could be the other culprit, but I dont honestly know which relay it is.

Your fuel pump relay has White, White/Green and White/Purple, plus a Black earth wire going to it. Click Here

There is a wire (black and white?) from the distributor amplifier to the ECU, it has a bullet connector close to the airflow meter. If not connected the ECU lacks a signal to enable the engine to run. Don't know if this could cause it to not start, but it is important in general and an easy check.
My worst case of not starting was caused by the coolant temperature sensor....
Hopefully you get it sorted quickly.

Hi everyone
I finally got it started after some meter testing and wire tracing. The fuel pump earth was good, there was continuity from the pump live back to one side of the fuse, but no continuity between the purple/White relay to the fuse? After a bit more wire tracing I got to the inertia switch under the bonnet only to find it had 2 lucar clips (instead of the proper plug) and 1 had come off effectively breaking the circuit !
