Hi, I could do with a little help using Open Office Base, which I would imagine is very similar to Microsoft Access.
I recently volunteered to help create a spreadsheet for an air rifle shooting league, and thought I would do it in Excel, but have since been told that a database would be a much better option, so thought I would give it a bash.
Basically, I have 200 shooters, and these have been split into 20 divisions of 10 shooters each. I have made a table containing the name, ID (1-200), division (1 – 20), and number within the division (1 -10). From this I somehow need to create a set of results tables where the coordinator can enter scores, and from these scores determine the winner and assign two points for a win and none for a loss to generate a league table.
Is this something Access/Base can do, and if it can will it be difficult? Any suggestions on how to go about this or any reading material that may help me out?

Gets you the basics, then a few new tables for the league seasons, and some nice forms, job jobbed.

i do all our rifle scores i use excel
1 division per worksheet, i've thought about a db, but it's just too much hassle

have a division table at the bottom of each worksheet
and then at the end of each season, copy and paste all divisional tables into one mega-table on a new worksheet

simples !

Thanks for the replies. I will take a look over the guide, but if I get really stuck I think I may just resort to excel.
