Mandleson "most prominent openly gay politician"?
Discussion
The Daily Mail, discussing the Chris Grayling/gays/Bed&Breakfast situation, state that:
"But Opposition MPs, led by Home Secretary Alan Johnson and Lord Mandelson, Britain's most prominent openly gay politician, said his comments showed the Conservatives had not changed."
Is he "openly" gay? I was under the impression that if anyone in the press even mentions his Brazilian boyfriend, that they need to watch their back.

I am pretty sure you are right, his libel lawyers must be on speed dial on his phone. Still, feel free to mention all his other indescretions and being kicked out twice for his shall we say Del Boy dealings.

Yes - I'd say he's "openly gay". Did anyone not know?"But Opposition MPs, led by Home Secretary Alan Johnson and Lord Mandelson, Britain's most prominent openly gay politician, said his comments showed the Conservatives had not changed."

Openly gay. Yes, but I remember this from earlier years when it was 'forbidden' to even mention the idea of it. Is this because at the time being gay was not an electable issue?
And its only NOW when he can score political points he has piped up.... odd that.

Does this problem (B&B) causes two problems in one? The sexual discrimination act and the religious discrimination act.

When was the last time you saw his partner? Describe him. When did he last mention his partner?
When has he ever acknowledged his inclination? Which other gay politicians have made legal threats to prevent reporting of their relationship?

No idea.
No idea.
But I still knew he was gay and think that pretty much everyone else did too.

Everyone (except Ricky Martin) knew Ricky Martin was gay before Friday week. Gay yes, open no.(and FWIW my problem is not with gay people not coming out, that's for them to deal with unless there's some over-riding principle. It's the cycnicism, misrepresentation and manipulation of the situation that irritates me)
