993 C4S Questions
Discussion
I'm looking at swapping my 2.7 Boxster for a 993 C4S.
What should I be looking for in terms of specification and are there any colours which should be avoided if I don't want to take a pasting come trade-in time?
Also, what should I be looking to pay from a specialist dealer?
Many thanks
Andy

Why not a C2S rather than a C4S? I've heard that both suffer rather badly in ride quality/tramlining etc. and that you'd be better off with a non-S as far as the suspension goes for typical British 'roads'. Of course, I'll defer to someone who has _actually_ driven said cars
On the other hand, if you're a bit of a nutter then you're in the price range for a 964RS...

I wouldn't worry about the colour/spec so much - I'd worry about finding a good one. Good, low mileage ones are getting considerably thinner on the ground. Find a decent example, and I'd live with the spec.
Pricewise, LHD they start at about 25k, RHD about 33k.
I know of an excellent RHD 50k mile example for sale at 35-36k that has had two people turn it down because of its amazon green leather interior. A shame, because it is the best example I've seen and the interior isn't so bad in the flesh (has black steering wheel and mats, so not like sitting at the bottom of a fish pond). In terms of colours, just avoid the really lairy ones even if a minter, as resale would be tricky. I wouldn't go for yellow, for example. If you were going to keep it and you liked yellow then don't worry so much.

How much would a full retrim be?
Edited to add: That pink GT2 makes a statment...

Full retrim would be about 3-4k if you had the seats redone, but sounds like a good time for Recaro buckets if you ask me!
It's not a real GT2, by the way, but still quite mean

£37K isnt as bad then really, all things considered.
Though your man Joel has a Turbo 4 for £38K...
I went to see that £38k Turbo4 at RSJ.
Lovely car. In fact, although it has 70k on the clock its a better car IMO than the other similar car he has in with only 40k on it, priced at £44k.
Its a shame I'm a bit skint at the moment due to unexpected costs for the business.
I would have bought it.
At Southbound, IIRC, an RS style Recaro bucket was a grand in leather complete with runners. The seat-runner is about 300-400 of that, so I assumed that 600-700 for leather would be a benchmark.
I may be totally and utterly wrong as I often am - 795 for a pair would be an absolute bargain - if you could live with driving on packing crates for a few weeks
