Evening all,

When I switched my laptop on this afternoon itunes said it wanted to download and install some software updates (Voiceover kit for itunes and a Quicktime update IIRC). D/L and install only took 10 minutes and went fine and although it forced itunes to close I could continue using Safari as normal. D/L completed I restarted my computer, but now itunes will not open; not from the shortcut on the desktop, not from the start menu, via my computer or even plugging in my ipod; nothing happens.

I've taken a look on apple's help site but they want me to create new user accounts for my OS and then create new itunes files & directories which there is no chance of me wasting my time doing. Anyone have better ideas? The OS is Vista (yes I know rolleyes but up until today everything worked peachy).

TIA

Sorry if this is stating the obvious but just remove it completely and do a fresh download ? Don't think you have any other option if it wont even open ...

I came to that conclusion as well; just spent the two hours wiping all apple software off my system and doing a fresh reinstall... hasn't made a difference frown Still won't open up; looks like I'll have to do some serious googling type

Does Win task manager show Itunes exe running ?

If so, try killing the process and retrying iTunes.

Worked for me a while back when the same thing happened.
