Passenger door will not push button open

Hi Guys,
Any one wanna throw any ideas my way???

when you press the wing mirrow entry button you can here a faint click from near the lock... but it does'nt open.... Window will go down sometimes and sometimes the door will open... but mostly it wont!!!! Only started today... Does'nt work from either button either!!!

I'm thinking loose coonection in door... does power go into the door then back out to the solnoid... i'm guessing there is a controller in the door that makes the window go down then opens the door.

Drivers door is unaffected!

Sounds like a sticky solenoid.

Sorry, don't know what fixed it as my garage did and simply told me that!

solnoid clicks but very faint compared to the rest of them.

have you tried unplugging and reconnecting the door control unit on the top of the fuel tank in the boot behind the carpet strip

If the solenoid clicks but faintly then it could be that there isn't much power getting to the solenoid, or there earth isn't very good. It's common for the connectors to corrode, so another thing to check.

How do you get to the solinoid????
unpluged the controlbox in the boot but it did'nt do much.

Does it work from the inside? Is you door immobilser on turning off the wing mirror buttons?

It might be worth recalibrating the doors/alarm, I think you do this by shutting everything and winding the windows up then holding the fob until the alarm goes off then pressing the fob again.

Unfortunately when I had similar problems to you it was the door control unit on top of the fuel tank in the boot that had blown - you can seen this by looking at the connectors - one may be burnt.

Well i investigated further today and it aint the solinoid clicking its the control box on the back.

know... i've taken the door pannal off looked and oiled up all the connectors behind there... Nothing really to report.

Tock the door catch out... Everything is free in there... Tock solnoid out tested it on 12v and thats working...

Put voltmeter on the supply and negative going to solinoid and i'm getting a veriable voltage going to it... from 9v to 12v... So i'm guessing this is the reason why it isent working.

Tock control box top off... Found a loose connection but still nothing works...
The control box is very loose in side... So i'm guessing its the control box thats gone dud.

Its always been abit odd... Sometimes you had to press the buttons 2 or three times to get it to work... Know one door has stopped working... Id of thought both doors would of stopped.

Anyone got a control box they want to sell?

Not sure if it's possible but have you tried the solenoid on 12V whilst it's still in position to see if the solenoid has enough grunt in it to open the door catch? Sometimes the boot catches click but there is not enough life in them to pull the catch. This happened to mine a while back!

Also the door locks control box if you mean the big one, I think thats the one, in the boot. They are very difficult to get hold of so be careful with it. Check the connections are clean but I am sure you have already done this mine was full of powder (I assume from the fibreglass) and caused me to have some very strange door habits.

i thiunk i've found one door control box but still open to ideas! solinoid aint even moving in the car..... thats without the door catch anywhere near!

I had the same whilst we were on holiday on the passenger door, turned out to be the latch itself was loose, tightened the allan bolts and all was well.

check the magetic door switch is clean,intact and marrys up with the metal plate on door jam.mine had a hairline crack and intermittently worked.it eventually gave up completley. It's underneath the door and is threaded bar with 10mm nut on it.easy to remove and check.worth while swapping the switches over on the doors to see if porblem transfers to other door.if it does, get ur switch from maplins as tvr suppliers charged me 25 odd for the switch when they are 5 in maplins
